EU Presidency Statement on the holding of the special Conference on Afghanistan convened under the auspices of the SCO
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union is happy to associate itself with the Declaration of the special Conference on Afghanistan convened under the auspices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.The Conference was held on 27 March 2009 in Moscow where the EU was represented by Mr. Tomas Pojar; First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic; Mr. Ettore Sequi, EU Special Representative for Afghanistan; Mr. Pierre Morel, EU Special Representative for Central Asia, also took part in the conference; and Mr. Mark Franco, Head of Delegation of the European Commission in Moscow.
The Presidency looks forward to continuing cooperation with the Government of Afghanistan and the whole international community to give the people of Afghanistan a better future.
