TODAY: Energy Ministers to discuss draft directive on minimum oil stocks
Today Luxembourg hosts the last meeting of Energy Ministers under the Czech EU Presidency.
The main objective is to reach political agreement on a draft directive on minimum oil stocks.
This last Energy Council meeting will be chaired by Czech Industry and Trade Minister Vladimír Tošovský. In addition to the proposal imposing an obligation on Member States to maintain minimum stocks of crude oil and/or petroleum products, the Ministers will discuss the state of play of the debate on three legislative acts concerning energy security.
The aim of the Czech Presidency is to seek the adoption of a progress report on the work done so far on the review of the buildings performance directive, the energy labelling directive and of the directive on labelling of tyres with respect to fuel efficiency and other essential parameters.
The Czech Presidency and the European Commission will debrief the participants on recent developments in international relations in the field of energy. Over lunch the Member States will hold a first debate on the location of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators, the establishment of which is provided for in the third energy package. Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania have applied to host the new agency.
