Agenda of the upcoming informal EU Environment Ministers’ Meeting in Prague

The Informal Meeting of the EU Environment Ministers will be held on 14 and 15 April in Prague and the Krivoklat castle (40 km from Prague). Three main topics will be discussed – adaptation to climate change, finance for climate change and strategy for international climate talks.

Adaptation to Climate Change

The Czech Presidency has prepared a paper entitled “European Union is adapting to climate change” that lists the issues to be discussed by the ministers. The discussion will be also closely related to the “Adapting to climate change: Towards a European framework for action” white paper recently published by the Commission.

Finance for Climate Change

The purpose of this issue and the related debate is to thoroughly discuss the international finance issue:

  • Further understanding of the financial needs - how much, where, when
  • Ideas for maximising the effectiveness of support

Climate negotiating strategy

A short paper will be produced by the Czech Presidency and distributed to all ministers a few days before the meeting. The paper will reflect the current situation after the Bonn meeting which takes place during these two weeks.
