Alexandr Vondra participated in the launch of the new initiative “Transatlantic Strategy Forum”
Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Alexandr Vondra participated in the launch of the new initiative “Transatlantic Strategy Forum” (TSF) in Brussels on 18 February 2009.
The initative gives as a new dimension to transatlantic cooperation and has the support of the Czech presidency of the EU Council and the European Commission. Among the founders are the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN), Chatham House, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Auswartige Politik (DGAP).
The aim of the Transatlantic Strategy Forum is to bring together politicians, business leaders and academics to identify the longer-term threats, challenges and opportunities that can best be tackled by close cooperation between Europe and the US. The TSF work program includes preparation of a report in the second half of the year for the Swedish presidency of the EU Council and the incoming European Commission. The report will cover key issue areas including security, economic and financial policies, energy and the environment, demography and immigration and global governance.
