Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel in Prague
Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel is in Prague today and will stay until tomorrow. Together with Czech Agriculture Minister Petr Gandalovič, the Commissioner will open the Quality Policy Conference.
During her stay the Commissioner will also give a lecture on the impacts of the financial crisis on EU farming at the Czech University of Agriculture. At a meeting with students she will discuss the current issues in agriculture as seen by the European Commission.
On Friday, Mariann Fischer Boel will visit the Environmental Education Centre at Toulcův dvůr to see examples of an environmental education programme and a mothers’ club. She will also visit the premises including the farm.
The Quality Policy Conference is expected to provide material for the Communication on Agricultural Product Quality Policy, to be published by the European Commission in May. Quality Policy is also one of the Presidency priorities.
