Czech Foreign Minister Kohout at ASEM Meeting in Hanoi

On 25 and 26 May 2009 President of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council and Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout takes part in the 9th Asia-Europe (ASEM) Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Hanoi.

The ASEM Ministerial Meeting will address, among other things, the future of ASEM, including the possibility of extending ASEM to include Russia and Australia. In addition to the traditional dialogue about international issues (Afghanistan, the Middle East etc), the meeting will focus on the political aspects of the global financial crisis and economic downturn. Other important issues will be climate change, energy security and human rights.
