EEA to present a report on the environment in Europe in early January
The Ministry of the Environment and the EEA are inviting media representatives to a press conference on Friday 9 January from 11:00 on, in the press centre of the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.
The European Environment Agency will present a new comprehensive report entitled ‘EEA Signals 2009’ about the state of the environment in Europe, which it publishes every year. The press conference will be held by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment, Martin Bursík, and the EEA Executive Director, Jacqueline McGlade. The EEA chose to present the new report in the Czech Republic, which will hold the Presidency of the EU Council from 1 January 2009 on.
The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union. Its task is to provide sound and independent information on the environment. Currently, the EEA has 32 member countries, i.e. the 27 Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey.
