Eurofestival in Brno to enrich informal meeting of EU Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers
The fifth open-air Eurofestival to be held on the occasion of the Czech Presidency will take place on 1 June 2009 outside the Mahen Theatre in Brno, Czech Republic.
The two-day Informal Meeting of EU Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers will be accompanied by an open-air cultural and educational festival. This event is organised by the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic and the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic to accompany the informal meeting of the EU-27 Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers scheduled for 31 May – 2 June 2009 in Brno.
The all-day programme of the Eurofestival in Brno is designed for visitors of all ages. The Eurofestival will offer a diverse programme that will include music and activities for children, as well as a discussion with representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, a presentation of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council and of EU institutions and individual Member States. Starting mid-morning, info-marquees will host discussions with schools on issues relating to the European Union. The musical part of the programme will include performances by Mako!Mako, Navigators and Josef Vágner. Aneta Langerová and MIG 21, big stars on the Czech pop-music scene, will take to the main stage in the evening.
Additional info-marquees will hold presentations on selected EU Member States, fun competitions and quizzes on Europe, and a presentation of the South Moravian Region. Visitors will also be able to sit in on a discussion with Mariann Fischer Boel, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development
The children’s programme will include street theatre, free balloons, a bouncy castle. From noon the children’s televised competition “Za školu” will be holding a number of events on the main stage.
