Job fair JOBDAYS 2009 attracted 15 000 visitors
The three-day job fair JOBDAYS 2009 attracted 15 000 prospective jobseekers to the INCHEBA EXPO exhibition grounds in Prague last week – 5000 more than last year. The fair was one of the official events of the Czech Presidency.
The event was launched by Ladislava Steinichová, director of the Employment Services Realisation Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs together with Markus Klos, director of the organising company Jobsinprague.cz.
The aim of JOBDAYS 2009 was not only to offer specific job opportunities on the spot and to assist the candidates in starting a new career in the Czech Republic or anywhere else in Europe, but through various seminars, lectures and other special events to train jobseekers in how to successfully go through the selection process and how to find their place on today’s employment market.
The visitors could find specific job offers at the employers’ stands and at the stands set up by the government and European companies they could get information and advice related to the employment market and employment in general. Likewise, employers had the opportunity to address jobseekers directly, to present specific jobs on the basis of the applicants’ profiles and to arrange for further interviews or training.
The “big job interview” was visited during these three April days by 15 000 jobseekers. In comparison with last year the number of stands also grew. The fair attracted more then 110 representatives of employers, recruitment agencies and human resources institutions from the Czech Republic and abroad aiming to help the candidates to take the next step in their careers. There were a total of 48 presentations and seminars. Job openings were on offer from the commercial as well as public sector.
The job fair was again this year varied by a different focus on a specific theme each day. Wednesday’s theme was the ECO DAY, when companies involved in ecologic programmes made their presentations. Thursday, the day with the highest attendance, was entitled the Multilingual DAY with presentations of international corporations. Friday’s Student DAY, naturally, focused on students.
At the EURES stands the visitors could consult the current job possibilities with 17 foreign EURES advisors from 11 different countries and EURES advisors in the Czech Republic and learn about living and working conditions in several countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland. The participating countries included Bulgaria, Italia, Hungary, Germany, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Great Britain.
The biggest job fair in the Czech Republic, JOBDAYS 2009, which was held on 8-10 April, was organised by Jobsinprague.cz along with the European information and advisory service EURES and the Sprace.cz Internet portal. The fair was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Vladimír Špidla, the City of Prague and the Czech Chamber of Commerce.
Entry to the JOBDAYS 2009 fair was free.
