Members of the EU Military Committee Working Group/Headline Goal Task Force (EUMCWG/HTF) visited Liberec
On Wednesday 18 March, 26 members of the EUMCWG/HTF visited the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Brigade (CBRN) in Liberec. The working group consists of experts in the area of creating military capabilities in EU Member States.
During the introductory briefing the commander of the Brigade, Colonel of the General Staff Miroslav Knopp, presented the practical experiences from engagements of the units of the 31st CBNR brigade during the Olympic Games and the NATO Summit, the cooperation with the integrated emergency response system of the Czech Republic and the performance of tasks in foreign missions by individual units.
Servicemen of the 312th Battalion of Chemical Radiation and Biological Protection in cooperation with representatives of the Centre of Biological Protection in Těchonín, the Central Military Health Institute and the Centre of Excellence Vyškov demonstrated their capabilities and equipment to the guests. Military experts from EU Member States also presented their activities to the representative of the Defence and Security Industry Association.
After a dynamic presentation during which chemical experts demonstrated the methodology of sample-taking, rescuing injured persons from a dangerous zone and their subsequent decontamination and treatment, members of the working group were shown the equipment of the chemical and radiometric laboratory.
The visit to the Liberec Brigade ended at the chemical museum at the headquarters and staff premises.
In his closing remarks, the president of the working group, Lieutenant Colonel Imrich Luky (Army of the Czech Republic) praised the professionalism of the Liberec chemical experts whose presentation he described as a major contribution to the activities of the Military Committee Working Group/Headline Goal Task Force.
