New Date of Accession Intergovernmental Conference

With regard to the situation, particularly the ongoing facilitation efforts by the European Commission, the Czech EU Presidency has decided to postpone the Accession Intergovernmental Conference with Croatia at the level of deputies to April 24 in anticipation of a positive result.

Brussels 24 March 2009

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek and Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor confirmed their joint interest in a quick resumption of the accession negotiations when they met on the margins of the European Council March 20. The accession talks are currently stalled due to a border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia.
