Presidency delegation to the UN session on sustainable development led by Minister Šebesta
The 17th session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-17) will analyse topical issues in agriculture and discuss the possibilities of a sustainable “Green Revolution” in Africa; instruments to fight food shortage; integrated soil and water management system aiming at sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The participants will also hold a dialogue with main interest groups, political research experts and specialized UN agencies, funds and programmes concerning the implementation of sustainable development. The Presidency delegation will be led to New York on 12-15 May by Czech Minister of Agriculture Jakub Šebesta. He will present the priorities of the Presidency in the agricultural sector among others to UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang and Chairwoman of the CSD-17 Bureau, Dutch Minister Gerda Verburg.
