Rambling through Germany - Cultural Event
The ramblers marching as part of the project “From South Bohemia to the Edge of the World”, which is the contribution of the South Bohemian Region to the Czech EU Presidency, will reach Nuremberg.
On Saturday 25 April, the tourists lead by Jan Havelka, the president of the European Ramblers Association, will be welcomed, together with the members of the partner tourist club Fränkischer Albverein, at the Nuremberg Town Hall - Wolffscher Bau. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the South Bohemian Region, namely Deputy President of the South Bohemian Region Ivana Stráská and Councillor in charge of education, youth and sports Jana Krejsová. In the evening, the Continuo Theatre will perform at the Sebalderplatz square in the centre of Nuremberg. “In this performance, actors combine movements, puppets, music and acrobatics and are thus able to communicate with audiences around the world. The show will evoke the atmosphere of the period of King George of Poděbrady and his attempt to create the first union of European states,” said Jiří Kopáček, representing the agency in charge of the creative part of the project.
The organisational team will inform about the whole project at a press conference held in the press centre of the Nuremberg Town Hall on 22 April. “Nuremberg is the destination of the first part of the march, which began on Easter Monday in Cheb and during which the group of eight tourists walked 205 km in ten days. This march across Europe is designed so as to copy as much as possible the route of the delegation sent by King George of Poděbrady and lead by his brother-in-law Lev of Rožmitál and Blatná. The whole march will end at almost the same moment as the Czech EU Presidency – on 26 June – in Brussels,” added Jiří Vlach, director of the Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia.
