The EU Troika in Pyongyang
The EU Troika on regional directors’ level took place in Pyongyang on March 21 -23, 2009 as a continuation of the regular political dialogue between EU and DPRK. The delegations exchanged views on EU-DPRK relations, non-proliferation and Six Party Talks, regional cooperation including inter-Korean relations, human rights and social and economic situation.
The EU delegation emphasized to the DPRK authorities that their announced „experimental satellite launch“ would be seen as a breach of the UN Security Council Resolution Nr. 1718, and it will send a wrong signal to the international community.
The Troika explored the intentions of the government of DPRK to continue the process of modernization of its social and economic system, and indicated the EU’s willingness to consider further knowledge-sharing assistance such as economic workshops and training courses.
