The Czech Presidency will be hosting the Member States’ representatives responsible for the Lisbon Strategy on 22 April 2009 in Wallenstein Palace, Prague.
The meeting will consist of two sessions: the morning session is intended exclusively for the National Lisbon Coordinators and it will be chaired by the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso. The afternoon session will be dedicated to the meeting of the National Lisbon Coordinators with stakeholders in the Lisbon Strategy for Growth & Jobs. Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Alexandr Vondra and Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Günter Verheugen will also participate in this session. The future shape of Lisbon Strategy beyond 2010 and possibilities for an overall improvement of its implementation and delivery will be among the main topics of the meeting. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to assess progress in implementing structural measures designed to stir economic recovery.
The National Lisbon Coordinators for the Lisbon Strategy for Growth & Jobs have been meeting on regular basis since 2005 when an Expert Group headed by Wim Kok produced its report on the first cycle of the Lisbon Strategy. Since 2007 these meetings have been held during each presidency, i.e. twice a year.
