Ministerial Conference "Building Migration Partnerships"

The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic will host a Ministerial Conference “Building Migration Partnerships” as part of the Czech EU Presidency. The conference will take place in Prague 27–28 April 2009.
The ambition of the Ministerial Conference is, through joint preparatory activities, to elaborate a new set of conclusions and ministerial recommendations which will enable the participating states to qualitatively improve joint relations towards genuine migration partnerships. This objective aims at providing support to the EU Global Approach to Migration in its Eastern and South-Eastern dimension and the principle has just recently been given a prominent place in the European Pact on Immigration and Asylum prepared by the French EU Presidency. .
The incoming Czech EU Presidency will be assisted by Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey.
The following four preparatory meetings on the level of senior officials will pave the way for the conference:
- 2nd Preparatory meeting, Turkey, February 2009
- 3rd Preparatory meeting, Bucharest, March 2009
- 4th Preparatory meeting, Prague, April 2009

- Media representatives may attend the press conference that will be held on Tuesday 28 April 2009 at 12:30 at the Žofín Palace, Slovanský ostrov, Prague 1
- Media representatives accredited for this event may collect their accreditation badge on Tuesday 28 April 2009 from 11:00 to 12:30 at the entry No. 2 of the Žofín Palace.
