EU Presidency Statement on the suicide attack of 10 June 2009 in Peshawar, Pakistan

The Presidency strongly condemns today's suicide attack on the Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar and expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

No cause can justify such acts.

The Presidency firmly rejects any attempts to undermine stability and rule of law in Pakistan and reiterates EU support to the Government of Pakistan in facing the complex and urgent challenges before it; in particular counterinsurgency and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
