EU Presidency to be symbolically handed over to Sweden at the United Islands Festival on 20 June 2009
The United Islands Festival will include a happening on the Vltava river at 18:00 on Saturday, 20 June 2009, during which the Czech Republic will symbolically hand over the Presidency of the EU Council to Sweden.
The event will be attended by Czech Minister for European Affairs Štefan Füle, Czech Senator Alexandr Vondra and Chargé d‘affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Prague Rolf Ericsson. A keg of beer will be handed over from boat to boat during the happening. The United Islands Festival is one of the final cultural events of the Czech Presidency.
