Experts on militaty airworthiness to meet in Olomouc
On 4 – 6 June 2009, Olomouc will host an international working meeting at expert level for military airworthiness, the Military Airworthiness Harmonisation Workshop, which is one of the events of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council.
The event, which will take place at the Regional Centre of Olomouc (RCO), will bring together several dozen experts from EU Defence and Transport Ministries, representatives of the defence industry and of international organisations - NATO, the European Defence Agency (EDA), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).
The working meeting is organised by the Armaments Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Military Aviation Authority of the Defence Ministry. The meeting of experts for airworthiness will be chaired by the Director of the Military Aviation Authority of the Defence Ministry, Colonel Petr Brouček.
The Czech Presidency aims to endorse the EU-wide Military Airworthiness Authorities Forum (MAWA) in its efforts to address issues of current significance – the themes of certification and standardisation in this area and the preparation of specific proposals and recommendations for the autumn meeting of the EDA Steering Board at the level of National Armaments Directors.
Within the EDA, military airworthiness at European level and coordination with other relevant international institutions (NATO, EASA, EUROCONTROL) and the defence industry in Europe falls within the remit of a project team headed by a representative of the Czech Republic, Jan Plevka (formerly employed at the Military Aviation Authority of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic).
