Minister Šimerka speaks at Eurofound conference
Yesterday an accompanying conference on working conditions and social dialogue began in Prague.
The two-day event (22 – 23 June 2009) held under the auspices of the Czech Presidency is organised by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound). It is attended by Czech Labour and Social Affairs Minister Petr Šimerka.
The conference primarily presents the results of a project based on surveys of working conditions in six EU Member States (the Czech Republic, Austria, France, Germany, Spain and Sweden) and on case studies in the field of healthcare and the building industry. The aim of the project was to analyse the interrelationship between working conditions and active social dialogue, in particular at company level. The dialogue includes mainly collective bargaining leading to the conclusion of a collective agreement, or possibly informing employees and negotiating issues that could have an impact on their working conditions and the development of the company. The study also analysed working conditions in cases where social dialogue is insufficient.
A body of the EU, Eurofound is aimed to contribute to the improvement of living and working conditions in Europe. It conducts research, analyses and comparative studies.
