On 4 – 5 June Prague will host a meeting of system managers of the European Employment Services (EURES).
The objective of EURES is to facilitate mobility on the European labour market by providing services to workers and employers who wish to use their right of free movement of persons within the EU.
The main topic of the meeting will be the situation on the labour market and the impact of the economic crisis on EURES in the first half of 2009. Among other issues, the participants will discuss the current trends in geographical mobility and supply and demand on the labour market.
On the second day of the meeting the European Coordination Office (EURESco) will publish information on the European job fairs “Job Days” and the EURES activities on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the system.
This year the job fair “Job Days” in the Czech Republic (held on 8 – 10 April) attracted 15 000 visitors.
The conclusions of the meeting will be used to support the mobility of workers – and not only within the EU. The EURES services should be extended to include foreigners from third countries, in accordance with the flexicurity principles and new skills for new jobs.
The event is organised by the Czech Presidency in cooperation with the European Commission.
