On Wednesday 6 May the EU–Canada summit was held at the Liechtenstein Palace in Prague.
The summit addressed current topics including the economic and financial crisis, foreign policy issues, climate change and energy security. The points on the agenda of the summit also included negotiations on deepening the economic cooperation between the EU and Canada, which resulted in the signing of a declaration regarding a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
The summit was attended by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Joseph Harper, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek.
