The Jihlava Declaration Will Improve Public Awareness of the Importance of Forests
29.6.2009The Jihlava Declaration suggests how the importance of sustainable forest management might be brought home to the public. The document was adopted at a meeting of directors responsible for forests in EU countries, which was held in the Vysočina Region from 22 to 25 June 2009. The main background material for the declaration were the outputs of the expert workshop “TAKING US OUT OF THE WOODS”, held in the Pardubice Region in early June.

International conference on Holocaust marks the end of the Czech Presidency
29.6.2009On 26 – 30 June 2009, Prague and Terezín will host the Holocaust Era Assets Conference, which should raise awareness of this dark chapter of European history and of social programmes for Nazi victims.
Ministerial Troika EU – India
29.6.2009An EU-India Troika ministerial meeting will take place today in Prague. Czech Presidency rounds off European Council with success

The Council also agreed on the new European Commission leader; it found consensus on conclusions concerning climate change and reached political agreement on the new European framework for financial supervision.
